Stafford Borough Local Plan 2020-2040: Preferred Options consultation
The purpose of this letter is to invite you to respond to the Stafford Borough Local Plan 2020-2040 – Preferred Options document which we are consulting on from October to December 2022. The consultation seeks views on draft policies and proposals for new development across Stafford Borough over the next 20 years.
The Preferred Options document includes:
- New levels of housing and employment land requirements, and how these will be distributed across the Borough through a new settlement hierarchy;
- Proposed development allocations including Stafford Station Gateway and a new garden community at Meecebrook near to Yarnfield, Stone and Eccleshall;
- A range of draft planning policies on topics such as climate change, economic development, housing provision, transport and the environment.

To assist Parish Councils with this consultation, two presentation events on the Local Plan “Preferred Options” document have been arranged for 4.30 pm until 6.00 pm and 6.30 pm until 8.00 pm on Tuesday 8 November 2022 in the Craddock Room at the Civic Centre in Stafford. This event will be open only to Parish Council Chairs and Parish Clerks.
In addition there will be an online event and a number of drop-in exhibitions across the Borough for all interested parties (e.g. Parish Councillors, residents, local business people) to attend in order to discuss the Local Plan and to ask questions. These are detailed below:

During the consultation period, hard copies of the Preferred Options document will also be available for viewing at Stafford Borough Council’s offices and all libraries across the Borough during normal opening hours.

Please ensure that your responses are received by us between Monday 24 October 2022 and before 12 noon on Monday 12 December 2022.

A summary of responses made to the “Preferred Options” consultation will be published in due course. Representations will be taken account of in the preparation of the “Publication” document through 2023.

Stafford Borough Council will consider all representations received, using them to inform the next stage of the process for the Stafford Borough Local Plan 2020-2040.
Comments cannot be treated as confidential. Your personal information, such as your postal and email address will not be published and signatures will be redacted, but your name and organisation will be made available. Comments will be made public and, because they are used to inform the development of policy, will not be able to be withdrawn once they have been processed and published. In addition, we will use your personal information to send you information on the Local Plan and associated planning policy matters.
Except where the law obliges or allows us, we will not further share your data with any external bodies or persons or with other departments within the Council.
